Since few days I was thinking that how online website builders should serve one’s need of designing a beautiful website and presents one efficiently to the online world? I had gone through many website builders out there and I stopped at one place Sidengo.com, a really cool online website builder. Initially one question pops up that when should someone use online websit builder? A friend of mine Mayank Jain gave me a very small one line answer, “Depends. If it’s a small project with mostly static pages and very little requirement then website builders should be fine”. Before going with any website builder, you should know what your requirements are. If you have a less amount of time, few requirements and small budget then you can go with the website builder. You don’t need any HTML knowledge to build a website using a website builder.
So let’s talk about Sidengo. Sidengo is an Online Website Builder web application. This will help you out to create a really beautiful and good looking multipage website integrated with most cool apps like facebook, twitter, youtube, etc.
When you will sign-up to Sidengo, the first impression will be because of you just have to enter your email id, password and your site name (sidengo.com/your-site-name). It was so easy to get started with no long signup form and non-relative details. As you enter, you will find a really beautiful website template is waiting for you to play with it. You can start customizing your new website through its really simple to use Builder panel.
Builder panel has made all things so simple that you will not take more than 10 minutes to get used to it. Customizing your website through this panel is much easier experience. You can see the things are changing in real time at the background and that’s a very pleasant experience to have. You can choose your design from seven beautiful themes. Yes, sidengo have only seven themes right now.
You can change the large background image with your own, or you can select from the gallery available. If you don’t want a background image then you can select the repetitive background patterns. And one sweet surprising thing is, if you upload more than one (maximum 3) background image then you will have a large background image slider and that’s WOW. Impressed!
You can upload your own logo or can use a simple text instead of that. Just upload a image of a logo and check how it looks on the header of the website. You also can upload a custom favicon (only for pro account).
As I told you earlier that Sidengo allows you to create multiple pages website. It comes with five sections line three general sections, one media to add your gallery and one for contact page (excluding the landing page). If you want to add section to your new website, then just click to the Section button and it will create another new section for you. In every section you can add a media like a single image or a complete beautiful slideshow from flickr, youtube, vimeo, slideshare or from your facebook album. If you choose facebook, just connect with facebook from the builder panel and within few seconds it will fetch all your albums from the facebook and show them in a dropdown. But here, it would be great if I am allowed to upload my own images. This would add a plus. But you can create an album on flickr or facebook and then link it to the gallery.
Now let’s come to the Contact page. Fill the title, your primary email address, your website url (if you have another website). And one more sweet surprise is here. When you enter your address here, at the background you can see the marker is getting set on the exact location on the map. If you don’t want to show your location on map then you can simply un-tick the check box.
As I told you earlier that Sidengo comes with some leading social networks integration. I added my facebook and twitter account here. Enter your facebook and twitter id and leave else on Sidengo. It will get your latest posts and tweets to your website. I would love if I get some more options with these integrations. Like for facebook, I don’t want to show my posts or I want to limit the number of tweets to be displayed.
Now, if you are done with all your customization, then it’s time to experience some cool features of Sidengo. Like:
You can add your website to your facebook page.
Export it to your custom domain,
Create a QR code of your site link,
And, you can create a iPhone / iPad web app of your website.
Isn’t that cool? Yes it is.
Summary
Sidengo is cool and has a really nice user experience. Certainly there is a slight scope to improve. As a user, I experienced some limitations where I want to do some more things by myself. It will be great if I was allowed to change some colors of fonts, hover colors, font sizes, etc. These small things matters. I hope in future they will give more theme options.
Overall, Sidengo is awesome! Beautiful and simple User Interface, elegant feels while building a website. Quick response when you make some changes. Designers and developers certainly have done a great job and they thought from the user point of view while developing Sidengo. Another thing is social integration and web app, which is remarkable and makes them different. Sidengo will be a nice option for small startups, freelance designers, photographers, etc. They can utilize it to its extent.
In the end, I would like to say that Sidengo is helping people to make web a beautiful place and give them a cool online presence!
